The first thing anyone who arrives on theQuite BrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
The first thing anyone who arrives on the Alcorn campus says is wow. I arrived on the first day of class having never seen the campus and it was beautiful. Coming from out of state I was a bit mis-informed about when I was supposed to be there. The staff was and has been very helpful. This chool has two teachers in their history department and they both have phds. The school is small in comparison to Wayne State which I grew up next to, but campus life can still be interesting. There are parties every one or two weeks at a club just off campus, but the real challange is to fight bordom on the weekends. The school becomes completely empty on the weekends exept for about one or two hundred people. This does, however, provide an opportunity to go on peaceful walks which I personaly enjoy. The surrounding city is very small and there is almost never anything to do there. That being the case, organizations are constantly putting on events to keep things interesting.

The scholastics here are moderate in difficulty. Its not as challanging as I had prepared for it to be, because teachers will take time before and after class to talk to you and make sure that you do well. Alcorn creates a family atmosphere which is quite condusive toward learning. Also if you get involved in the Honors and Pre proffesional college it opens up new and useful opportunities. Also the office of Global Programs is waiting for more people who want to study abroad and tend to get students at least three thousand dollars in scholarships to help with the expenses. All of this being said Alcorn is a great place to learn with active campus involvement, but if you are looking for a large college with a huge city around it I would suggest looking into other options.

College really helped meBiology
College really helped me develop a desire to want more than I thought life had to offer, also I developed social and personal relationships that have lasted all these years later. It is the place to grow up and learn how to handle your own issues, I think everyone should at least try it.
