What is Criminal Justice

Criminal justice is the system of practices and institutions of governments directed at upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, or sanctioning those who violate laws with criminal penalties and rehabilitation efforts.

The criminal justice system is a three part system. First you have the people who break the laws, the criminals, and the people who protect the laws the law enforcement agencies. Once someone is arrested by a police officer they are booked in to the correctional system. The correctional system is another of the three pieces to the criminal justice system. After being arrested and booked into jail the person arrested has their day in court. The legal system is the third part to the criminal justice system
