I transferred from a community college.Quite BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
I transferred from a community college. I always thought that it would be hard coming from a community college, because it should be more challenging at a good school like Penn State. Imagine the surprise.

In one case my marketing professor argued that 2 marketing terms have the same definition, when by definition they are completely different (for the marketers among you, the terms were "promotion" and "advertising").

In other classes my teachers didn't teach at all, expecting us to learn by ourselves. In one case we were given take home exams, which were the questions that come with the instructor's book. He didn't even bother to go ahead and pick the relevant question, resulting in multiple questions with the same answers sequentially (each test has about 150 questions). Not only that, by the end of the course we completed only 10 quizzes for 10 chapters out of the 24. To sum up - great campus, but don't go if you actually want to learn anything.

THE WORST FINANCIAL AID EVER!!! Literally just depressing.BrightBusiness - Management and Administration
THE WORST FINANCIAL AID EVER!!! Literally just depressing. If you do not have the money to go here, or your parents do not qualify for loans, your life will be a living hell. The Office of Student Aid and Bursar's Office are supposed to work together to help you. They will bounce you between each other. They are both LAZY and INCAPABLE. Not only does their system suck, but the employees are uninformed. It took me 3 months to finalize a loan with both offices. They will not help at all. I walked in one day to see if my loan had finally been processed. There were 3 employees sitting there just chatting. They finally waived me over. When i asked if my loan had been processed they Literally looked at one paper. Said oops it still needs to be filed. That will happen in a day or two. *(the loan was already one week late)* DO NOT listen to a word they say. They will not help you. Its disgusting and frustrating

Smeal business school is an excellent program withBrightBusiness - Management and Administration
Smeal business school is an excellent program with plenty of opportunities to network through alumni and student organizations. The career opportunities and recruiting is superb for entry-level corporate jobs. About the social scene, most kids are from PA, either suburban Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. As a freshman guy, getting into parties is pretty hard unless you're in a frat. Girls are fine. The experience is what you make of it. I love the friends I've made, and wouldn't trade my experience for the world. I'm transferring, but Penn State is a great place.
