I scored high on the ACT, maintained a 4.0 in high school, and wrote a decent essay. It wasn't especially difficult to get in, and I auto-qualified for a full tuition scholarship. You definitely don't need amazing grades to get in, but if you can get that academic scholarship, it helps a lot.
