SmartLabs: A data acquisition workshop for secondary students and teachers of physics and physical science

Andrews University

Teacher-student pairs team together to prepare labs which involve computer-assisted data acquisition. Upon completion, students are trained to assist in laboratories at their high school or college. Students are encouraged to "bring" their teachers. All teachers are fully supported for graduate credit. Student expenses are completely covered except for travel and college credit is available upon subsequent enrollment at Andrews University.

Self and Technology

An exploration of technology as an extension of yourself. Students will explore this theme in readings, writing essays, topics in psychology and robotics. GEMS Camp: Girls Experiencing Mathematics in the Summer

GEMS Camp is a week-long residential camp for mathematically talented high school girls. Three enrichment Mini-courses introducing mathematics not commonly seen in the high school curriculum along with presentations on cryptography, Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Science, and Mathematics and Art are part of the program. This is a week long summer camp where the students learn about four main areas in chemistry and the possible job applications through mini learning sessions and college level laboratory experiments. The students go on tours of local hospitals and industrial plants to actually see chemists at work. The students also learn about campus life by staying on campus for the duration of the camp.
