Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Languages

Indiana University Purdue University - Indianapolis

Each year about thirty high school juniors studying French, Spanish, and German are selected for each of the seven-week programs: in France, St. Brieuc and Brest; in Germany, Krefeld; in Mexico, San Luis Potosi; and in Spain, Valencia and Ciudad Real. Each student is placed with a local family selected by the coordinators abroad. Intensive study conducted in the foreign language is the focal point of the program. Students are taught by carefully selected teachers in morning classes established exclusively for the Honors Program participants. The Summer Youth Program will introduce you to careers and allow you to develop new skills through laboratory, classroom, and field experiences. The program includes more than seventy one-week explorations, scheduled over a four-week period in July and August each year. An exploration is an intensive week-long look at a particular field or area of interest and is offered in seven different categories designed to introduce you to a world of opportunities. Explorations allow you to learn to use a computer, rappel, or perform diagnostic chemical tests.
