Positive Negative Neutral Advice
The school actually has 3 abandoned buildings andQuite BrightArchitecture
The school actually has 3 abandoned buildings and is only renovating one now so they can close down another rather than keep up on the repair. They built a brand new "innovation center" while half the buildings are crumbling. The administration cares about nothing more than our money, firing all but TWO school therapists and waiting until the student uproar was risking media attention before hiring more.

Question
Before attending do talk with students about theirNot so brightEngineering Department
Before attending do talk with students about their experiences and truly decide if you're willing to give up your sense of well-being to get a degree here. Admin cleaned house about ten years ago, and apparently things have gotten somewhat better for students trying to resolve issues by the addition of the One Stop student center, but still be prepared for every little thing to take weeks to sort out. It really is that bad. The IT department is not good. Be prepared to have people speak awkwardly and maybe rudely to you regardless if the issue is their fault or not or whether they resolved it or not. Many students here have a lack of motivation, are insulated in their own world, and won't keep plans. Cliquey atmosphere where frat boys are trading old exams and cheating to pass classes. Academic support resources are nil and you really have to know the right people to get what you need. Low morale in general and disappointing to see some of the teachers take part in perpetuating the negative attitudes. Overall, it's a small school where the architecture students give new student tours. Yes, the department that actually gets funded. Of course they are going to sell the idea of IIT to prospective students. If you aren't architecture, just go to UIC and make memories somewhere with spirit, school pride, and balance. Not worth it just because this place used to be prestigious. Just finishing up to get my piece of paper and close this chapter.

Question
I've had a great career as a SoftwareElectrical Engineering
I've had a great career as a Software Engineer and I couldn't have done it without the education I got at IIT. The courses were well laid out and taught me more than just what I needed to know, they taught me how to learn. What was especially helpful was I was able to co-op throughout my upper-class undergraduate run, 5 semesters in all. That was an amazing experience and put me on the path to success. (I had a great offer lined up before I graduated.) Thank you IIT for putting me on the path to a fine career.
