Honestly everything about this school sucks except forQuite BrightComputer Engineering
Honestly everything about this school sucks except for the education itself. Classes are awesome because they are run on a quarter system instead of a semester system, so you can expect to be able to focus deeply on just a few topics instead of spreading yourself thin. But you then proceed to spend 70k+ a year on small and tight dorms with disgusting bathrooms and common rooms, underinvolved students with mediocre clubs, no school spirit, no social life that isn't greek affiliated and really, really, really shitty food.

Question
You have to know what you are gettingBrightMechanical Engineering
You have to know what you are getting in to. The quarter system means you are taking 6 classes + labs in a Semester instead of 4 (in other places) . It is very intense. It is great for students who want to double majors or have minors. But it means you need to have a strong background from a College prep private school or from a school like Bronx Science. The first years you will have to take core classes (chem, phys calc) and you better have taken all those AP classes in High School because Professors are not available for office hours. They are involved in Research and lecture 100s of students in a huge lecture hall. There is no time for support. Because the quarter is a short time, there is few tests. THose core classes have only 2 exams. Tutors are quickly taken and its hard to find one. Once you get to the projects (like IPQ) they only take the best GPA to study abroad. Most of the students will stay on campus. In short it is no for students who come from public high school with weak STEM programs. It is designed for College prep students or Bx Science HS. There is no hands-on activities before you to to the IQP in junior year.

Question
WPI in general is an OK school but,AverageOther
WPI in general is an OK school but, if you want to go here and be an IMGD major, just burn your money as it would at least save you the time. This program is run by children who bully students that don't worship the ground they walk on. I have heard professors make fun of a student with mental disabilities multiple times and have been talked down to when calling them out for it. The professors will pass students who shouldn't pass and then don't end up teaching students what they need to know. This department will make you feel unwanted if you have any kind of disability. The classes that I have taken outside this department have been great and I am happy with how the Computer Science department works. I recommend WPI as long as you aren't trying to get an IMGD degree.
